Introducing: Concept Snapshot Library v1.0!

In a nutshell: The new Concept Snapshot Library, found at yupimages.imgur.com, has hundreds of topic-specific images that can be dragged onto your Tutor Whiteboard at a moment’s notice. Watch the video below and give it a test drive with the practice whiteboard!

Whether they’re used to generate “aha” moments or create long-term study aids, clear and informative pictures can have an enormous impact on student learning. Until now, you either had to draw them from scratch or download them from the web. Once you’ve had a chance to use the Concept Snapshot Library in real sessions, please be sure to let us know how useful you found it.

Important Notes: A few of the images are animated gifs that won’t stay animated on your whiteboard. However since they can be especially helpful, you can keep the animation by saving them to your system and uploading them with the “Send Image” button. Also, some images may appear to be missing information due to Imgur’s black background. Right-click these and “Open Image in New Tab” to see them on a white background.

Again, we encourage you to send useful images to tutor.support@yup.com if you feel that other tutors would benefit from them.

Regards,

Team Yup

Introducing: Tutor Contributions!

In a nutshell: In order to build a stronger sense of community within the Yup Tutor Team, we would like to invite you to contribute to the Newsfeed in the form of discussion questions, polls or written pieces.

Perhaps the most unique aspect of being an online educator is working with a team of people who you may never have the chance to meet face-to-face. Yup imagetutors can be found all over the globe– but we are hoping to bring our team a little closer together by opening up the Yup Newsfeed to tutor-generated content!

We are excited to welcome your Newsfeed contributions in the following forms:

1. Propose a question to be answered by the tutor community that would stimulate meaningful discussion and encourage collaboration

Discussion prompts that spark relevant professional conversation (“How do you motivate a student that doesn’t want to engage?”)

Questions related to your area of expertise (“How do you approach teaching problems related to ______?”

Surveys/Polls (“What is your go-to online tool for ______?”)

These questions should be clear, relevant, and relatable to the community.

2. Help us get to know you on a personal level by telling us more about yourself

– Write an autobiographical piece that lets other tutors know who you are (Why did you become an educator? What are your passions?)

– Write an opinion piece/editorial that ties into the theme of education (What is your opinion of the current educational system in your country? How has technology shaped the way you teach?)

All tutor-generated Newsfeed posts will support comment submissions, money-iconand contributors are expected to interact with comments left on their Newsfeed post. Each month, the contributor with the highest level of engagement via the comment section will be rewarded with a $25 bonus!

To get involved with this exciting new venture, send your post proposals to tutor.support@yup.com. We look forward to hearing from you– let’s bring this incredible community of educators a little closer together!

Coming Soon: New Tags!

In a nutshell: Our new tagging system goes live soon! Check out how it works on slide 8 of the Tutor Policies doc.

The engineering team will incorporate the new tags into your Tutor Dashboard on the night of Friday, August 26th. (FYI: the Session Categorization document, linked to in slide 7, still refers to the old tagging system.)

The new tagging system has multiple benefits. Most importantly it will improve:

  • Your performance. Along with feedback scores for non-Gap Clarification Phase (GCP) sessions, the new tags will allow you to see more targeted, relevant information about GCP sessions.
  • Our Quality Assurance system. The new tags will let us fairly and efficiently filter out sessions (testing app, cheating, wrong subject etc.) that should not affect your percentage of GCP sessions.
  • Yup Team metrics. The new tags will provide our product, engineering, and operations teams with useful information about what’s happening in individual sessions.

If you have any questions about the new tagging system, feel free to email tutor.support@yup.com.

Regards,

Team Yup

How does the new Quality Assurance System work?

In a Nutshell: The Ops Team created a presentation especially for you that goes over precisely how the new Quality Assurance System works.

Find below a link to a presentation that explains in detail how the new Quality Assurance System works. Understanding the new Quality Assurance System will help you to ensure that your performance continues to meet the expectations of both our company as well as our students.
