Introducing Veem, a Scheduling Question, and Reminders

Hi, everyone!

We hope you had a nice week.

Again, we would like to thank you for your patience with the delayed messages bug. When we conduct the manual review of sessions at the end of the cycle, we will pay particular attention to sessions during this time period to ensure that any negative ratings associated with bug(s) are removed. Thank you for your understanding as the engineers worked to fix the issue.

Please read through the remainder of this post for an introduction to our new payment system, a scheduling question, and important reminders.

Veem

We are excited to announce that we are transitioning our payment system to Veem. Veem will replace payments sent via PayPal or Bank Deposits. We selected Veem in order to improve the payment experience for all tutors. With Veem you will be able to:

  • Manage your own bank account and withdrawal preferences (in our current system, you have to reach out to our support team to update or change any of your information)
  • Receive funds in your local currency at a beneficial exchange rate without additional fees

You will receive your payment for work completed in March via Veem. To do so, we must set you up with your Veem account! On Monday, March 13 you will receive an invitation to join the Veem network and set up your account. When you receive this email, you will need to:

  1. Accept the invite to the Veem network
  2. Add your banking information to your profile
  3. Complete your Individual Account Setup (during this process you will need to produce proof of identity through either a bank statement or national identification of the Veem account holder)

Veem has a super helpful customer care team that will be able to assist you with any personal questions that you may have. We request that you complete your account setup by Friday, March 24 to ensure no delays in payment. Thank you for your time in completing this important task and we look forward to simplifying how you manage your payments from Yup powered by Prenda!

Scheduling Question

As we continue to optimize our scheduling we are considering moving from 1-hour to 2-hour shifts. The benefits of this would be:

  • Reduce gaps in tutor schedules. Right now tutors will often be scheduled intermittently. For example, from 8-9 a.m. then from 10-11 a.m. Scheduling in 2-hour blocks would ensure that the tutor was scheduled from 8-10 a.m.
  • Reduce the need for tutors to stay for 30-minutes beyond their scheduled time. If scheduled in at least a two hour block, there would be fewer instances where the tutor would need to stay beyond what they were scheduled for and had planned for.
  • Reduce dropped sessions. A lot of our dropped sessions happen at the very beginning and at the end of each hour because tutors are coming in and out of shift.

We would like to know your thoughts on this potential change. Please complete this one-question survey to let us know what you think!
