Post-Session Screen Update, Tutor Spotlight Award, and Reminders

Hi, everyone,

We hope your week is off to a great start!

In reviewing the tutor spotlight award submissions, it was such a pleasure to read through sessions where students were delighting in their learning and you were the guides facilitating their independent problem-solving! Please read through this post for an important feature announcement, the tutor spotlight award recipient, and some reminders.

Post-Session Screen

On Friday, we will deploy a significant update to the post-session screen. We want to provide the most actionable information possible for teachers about what was covered in a session.  The way we currently collect and display information about each session requires a significant amount of:

  • writing on the tutor’s part
  • reading for the teacher to be able to digest what occurred in each session.

Having written comments also does not provide us the opportunity to display helpful data and trends for teachers in their dashboards.

So, to streamline this process for the tutors and to increase the actionable data for the teacher we are excited to release a significant update to the post-session screen. Check out what the post-session screen will look like!

The post-session screen will now consist of three main elements:

  1. Topic Covered – sourced from the Yup Learning Objectives
  2. Mastery – select from the scale outlined below for each of the Topics Covered
  3. Engagement – select an engagement that best describes the student’s participation in the session.

For each topic covered, you will assign a mastery level. The four different levels are outlined below along with descriptions and examples.

Please review the Post-Session Comments information deck to learn more about the different components of the new, simplified Post-Session screen.

With this update, the expected amount of time that you will spend on the post-session screen will be 45 seconds.

Tutor Spotlight

Congratulations to our tutor spotlight: Jose Pinzon! Jose submitted an outstanding session he had with a student where they worked together on simplifying expressions using log rules. Jose commented that “this was a long session with Grace, however I really liked the interactions that we had on both sides. What really helped was that Grace was extremely well organized and seemed to really care about understanding the topic, this made the teaching experience not only great, but it also motivated me to make the session fun for her. I posted the end of the session because seeing that not only she understood, but actually enjoyed the long session showed me why I like being a tutor, seeing students reach a level of understanding where they go “Math is beautiful and amazing” We couldn’t agree with you more, Jose. Thank you for sharing!

Metrics that Matter

We are now posting the averages for the Metrics that Matter for each TGP level in our newsfeed posts. These averages are calculated based on the current standing of metrics according to the Tutor Ranking System rather than the calculation of averages of tutors at their current level.  Hopefully, this will give you real-time context to understand your individual performance.
