Webinar, Peformance Email & Schedule Software Launch

YUP TUTOR WEBINAR RECAP

Last week, we announced an upcoming initiative that will change how we incentivize tutor growth and performance as we scale: the Tutor Growth Pathway. Yesterday, we were pleased to be joined by over 20 tutors from across the globe for a live Tutor Webinar hosted by Yup’s Director of Tutor Operations, Kreg Moccia.

Thanks so much to those of you who were able to attend – especially to those who were able to jump on the microphone and engage with thoughtful questions!

If you missed the webinar, we strongly encourage you to watch the video in order to fully understand not only the new Growth Pathway program, but also the email you will be receiving today pertaining to your performance (continue reading below for more details).

Please keep an eye on your inboxes today as we send out the 15-week metrics that will help dictate your Growth Pathway Level once the system goes into place in September. In addition to using historical data, we will also capture data from Aug 5 – Aug 25, which will provide everyone with a chance to progress from their initially assigned level before the program officially launches on Sept 2.

Professional Development + Dashboard Update

Introducing: Professional Development Program

We are excited to announce our new tutor Professional Development program! This program aims to help tutors improve on the rubric standards they struggle with most by providing concise video training.

Starting Monday, July 23rd, we will begin tracking rubric standard scores to identify tutors who earned a “No” on 30% or more of scored sessions for a given rubric standard over a 4-week period. If you are flagged for training, you will receive an email with further instructions.

Program Overview:

  • The program will involve watching a 3 – 5 minute video on an individual rubric standard and completing the associated quiz via PlayPosit
  • Each training exercise should take no more than 10 minutes, however, you will be compensated for 30 minutes of your time for passing the quiz
  • To pass you must complete the exercise within 1 week and score 100%, though you may rewatch the videos and retake the quiz as needed

Please let us know if you have any questions by contacting tutor.support@yup.com. We look forward to using this program to help you better understand Yup’s standards and expectations and grow as educators!

Tutor Dashboard Updates

Starting later today, July 18th, you will notice some structural changes to the Tutor Dashboard that we hope will improve your experience on the platform.  If you notice any issues or bugs, please send a screenshot as per the Bug Reporting instructions so we can pass on the issue to our engineering team. Please note the step that explains the Dev Console screenshot – this is the most important step for diagnosing a problem.

Paid Training Video: Tutor Fault Tags

A few weeks ago, our Training Coordinator, Sharon Matsuoka, reached out to you with a brief survey to help us understand where your confusions were surrounding Tutor Fault Tags.

We used this information to create a new PlayPosit training video that focuses on how these tags are assigned, as well as how they can be avoided.

Using the image link below, please log in to PlayPosit, watch the video, and answer the interactive quiz questions. Complete this assignment before July 20th to earn 30 minutes of compensation. We have no doubt that you will find this webinar-style video informative!

If you have not yet received your PlayPosit credentials or need help logging in, please email tutor.support@yup.com.

PlayPosit Reminder + Response Speed

PlayPosit Video Task Reminder

If you have not yet completed the PlayPosit Video Tasks mentioned in this post, we ask that you do so as soon as possible.

The guidelines in these videos bring together, rather than simply restating, a wide variety of our existing tutoring policies, and in a way that helps you move sessions forward efficiently.

We’ll soon be introducing new pay bonuses based on positive student feedback, and if you keep the ideas from these videos in mind, you’ll be well-situated to benefit from them!

If you have not yet received PlayPosit credentials, please email tutor.support@yup.com

Response Speed Reminder Message

Several months ago, we introduced a Response Speed Reminder message that would appear in your Tutor Chat window when you hadn’t sent any messages for two minutes:

After a hiatus caused by a minor bug, this feature is back!

Important: If you see this message before two minutes have passed since your own last message, or if it does not appear when it should, please notify the System Issues HipChat room.

New Video: Pushing Information

PLAYPOSIT VIDEO TASK

Recently, we have introduced a number of features and policies that place greater importance on pushing information to stuck students. So far, however, we haven’t provided much concrete advice about doing so!

With this in mind, we have added a brand new video quiz to our “Adapting to Students” series on PlayPosit. To watch the video, simply login to your PlayPosit.com account. (If you have not received PlayPosit credentials, email tutor.support@yup.com.)

In the previous video, “Adapting to Student Knowledge”(as mentioned in a recent News Feed post), we briefly discuss teaching in a way that will increase the likelihood of your students answering your guiding questions correctly. The newest video greatly expands on this, describing actionable guidelines on multiple ways of pushing information.

Addressing users’ top concerns (explanation clarity and teaching speed, currently) and continuously improving our ability to do so is utterly crucial to Yup’s success. For that reason, we’re making these two video quizzes mandatory and attaching a bonus for completion:

– Complete both video quizzes before January 1st to earn two hours of bonus pay

– Failure to complete these mandatory training exercises before the above deadline will result in a penalty of 1 strike

We hope you find the video helpful, and if you have any questions or concerns about it, please email tyler@yup.com.
