Student Feedback + Discussion Problem + Positive Language Reminder

In a nutshell:
– Read a student’s thoughts on about their Yup experience
– Ensure you are familiar with the concept below
Reminder: Positive Language

STUDENT FEEDBACK:

We recently received the following comments from one of our users:

“Please tell the tutors to keep asking GUIDING questions- they are a tremendous help in helping us students gain lasting comprehension of the material. And overall, keep up the great work! ? I LOVE this app – it has made the difference between staying in school and considering dropping out!”

Feedback like this serves as a reminder that all your hard work is undeniably impacting our student’s lives! We want to thank all of you for helping to make our team of tutors truly exceptional.

POSITIVE LANGUAGE REMINDER:

Please take care to ensure that all interactions with students are welcoming, patient and free from judgment. Condescending phrases like “It’s quite simple…” or “Obviously…”  are never okay and will only frustrate students further. Be careful about how you are typing messages– using all caps, “…” or “??” can send the wrong message.

Happy tutoring!

NEW: Server Connection Policy

In a nutshell: Starting November 7th, we will be holding tutors accountable for any instances of dropped internet connection during a shift.

Having a working internet connection is an integral requirement for all Yup tutors. After all, that’s how we connect to students!

Recently, we built a tool that alerts us imageswhenever a tutor is logged into a shift but loses connection with our servers, because we’ve seen this issue cause negative student experiences. Now that this tool is more robust and accurate, we will be acting in the following ways:

If a tutor is logged into a shift but loses connection with our servers, that tutor will…

1. Receive an e-mail the next day from scheduling@yup.com detailing the instances of when they were not connected.

2. Receive a pay deduction for any period of no internet connectivity beyond 5 minutes.  (Ex. A tutor was logged into their shift, but not connected to our servers for 15 minutes; 15 minutes will be deducted from their pay.)

3. No scheduling strikes will be given for this issue at this time.

This policy begins on Monday, November 7th, 2016.

Of course, let us know if you have any questions or tips on how to help combat this issue (ex. you see patterns between the cited times and your activity).

Best,
Team Yup
