Tutor Spotlight, Image Library, and Tutor Satisfaction Survey

Tutor Spotlight Nomination

Since rolling out our new Tutor Spotlight Nomination program, we’ve only received 1 nomination. We know you have awesome interactions with students every day and we want to recognize you for them, so please nominate yourself!

Image Library

A huge thank you to Madhumathi Raman who built out an image library for us! This is a Google Drive folder and we hope you get a lot of use from it! If you see something we’re missing, please send Sharon an image of what you’d like to add in and she can do that for you.

Tutor Satisfaction Survey

Thanks for completing our Tutor Satisfaction Survey! Here are the results:

~50% of tutors are satisfied with Yup overall. ~65% say tutoring and scheduling are going well, but only ~50% are pleased with compensation and grading.

What this means to us:

We want to always ensure we’re providing the best tutoring experience possible. Your actionable feedback is important to us, and we’ve done our best to make important changes tutors have requested – such as introducing N/As to grading.

Things we can change:

Please continue to submit important product features. Let us know if you experience bugs. And we hope the number of available hours will go up in the Spring with increased pilot usage and demand!

Things we cannot or do not intend to change:

Scheduling: We will continue to schedule hours based on demand, so while we anticipate increased usage, hours will always depend on what usage we actually see.

Compensation: We continue to benchmark hourly rates to other tutoring companies, and we believe we offer a strong value proposition. In particular, our scheduled hours and our pay for out of session but in shift time are uncommon in the industry. We also feel that TGP allows higher performing tutors to earn more in a fair and accessible manner. If you do not believe this is true, please send through data from other sites so that we can consider alternatives!

Grading: We have made changes to UPSCR grading to ensure fairness. However, we do not intend to change grading further. This includes keeping our student ratings system the same as today. We believe our current system focuses on student learning in an important way, while also ensuring students have a voice in our platform. If you notice themes in incorrect grading, please let Sharon know so that she can put your session in the next TQM feedback test. This is how we ensure all TQMs are aligned in their grading.

Thank you and as always please email any questions to tutor.support@yup.com!
