New Email Notifications

As some of you are already aware, one of the new features of Tutor Dashboard 2.0 sends out automatic email notifications when there are certain session issues that need to be address and/or reviewed.

Because all sessions will go into the grading pool, it is very important that you tag sessions appropriately and answer the two post-session categorization questions accurately. This information will be verified by a Senior Tutor and any inconsistencies will be addressed with a notification email and possible further action. Examples of notification emails include:

  • Session was incorrectly categorized/tagged (See more information below)
Next Step: Please review the session to better understand the mistake. These instances may be counted as an infraction once everyone has had time to adjust to the new system.
  • Session never progressed to Explanation Phase by fault of the tutor
(Example: the tutor took to long to respond, causing the student to leave)
Next Step: Please review the session to better understand the issue. This could be held against you, though you have the option to contest it.
  • Session was flagged for a student refund by a Senior Tutor
(This happens for a number of reasons, see the Yup Tutor Policies)
Next Step: This could result in the session minutes being removed from your monthly payment and an infraction received, though you do have the option to contest it.
  • Session in which an incorrect solution was provided
Next Step: Session minutes will be removed from your monthly payment and an infraction received.
  • Session in which the student was aided in cheating
Next Step: Session minutes will be removed from your monthly payment and an infraction received.

How are Categories Determined?

The following diagram shows how the questions you answer after a session help to determine the appropriate category:

New Session Categories

  • Sent No Messages: The student did not send any messages after the initial problem is submitted. (When this happens, the session will automatically end after 5 minutes and no post-session categorization page will be displayed.)
  • Clarification: You have not started explaining the concept but have addressed the question or gap with the student.
  • Explanation: You have started explaining the problem, but a solution has not yet been reached.
  • Bridged: At least one solution is reached during the session

Tags vs. Flags

flagstags

While tags tell us more about issues with the session (such as a student leaving unexpectedly), flags are added by Senior Tutors when reviewing a session to let us know about any performance issues you had (such as giving away answers.) Examples of possibles flags include:

  • Tutor caused student to leave before overview
  • Tutor gave away answer
  • Tutor arrived at incorrect solution
  • Session needs to be refunded

For more information on tags, see Aaron’s initial post on the new Tutor Dashboard features. NOTE: When tagging sessions, please make sure to choose all options that apply.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have questions about any of this material and have a great weekend!
